QUICK-TURN DEVELOPMENT

CONCEPT TO PRODUCTION

Polyjet 3D Printing

3D printing offers a tremendous advantage when developing a new product. Whether it is to produce a visual model or proof a prototype for form, fit and function, it is extremely fast and accurate. It is also able to produce small production quantities until the transition into volume CNC machining or plastic injection molding is available.

Objet30 Polyjet Printer

With our Objet30 3D printer, we can create a plastic prototype from your STL file or CAD drawing in just a matter of days. Depending on the size of your part, we can print your part to actual size or to scale without the time consuming and higher cost of the machining process. This insures that your part is to spec and functional before moving into production. Printing in only 28 micron (.0011”) thick layers, precision and clarity of your part is ensured.  3D printing saves you time, reduces costs, and provides a quick-turn from development to the production stage.

Material and Capacity

Two types of printing media are available. Rigid opaque material preferred for most applications when form, fit, and function are needed. This material is extremely stable and produces the most consistent tolerances. Semi-transparent polypropylene-like material used when transparency or flex is needed. Both depend on the thickness printed. Maximum printing size is 11.57” wide x 7.55” deep x 5.85” tall.

Accuracy

Depending on material, size, and geometry of your part, tolerances of +/-.002 of an inch can be achieved. This is similar to most machining processes which allows for real world comparisons when utilizing it for form, fit and function purposes.

QUOTES-1

Anyone who has ever had to source precision CNC or screw machine parts knows how difficult it is to find a reliable supplier. We have trusted our most critical and time-sensitive projects to OSP and they always do exceptional work. Their design validation services, such as 3D printing, allowed us to proceed with production with confidence. I highly recommend this machine shop!”

WHAT IS 3D PRINTING?

3d printing is an additive manufacturing process and there are many different types available. Polyjet 3D printing works by jetting UV curable resin (photopolymer) onto a build tray in extremely fine layers. As the layers are placed, they are simultaneously cured by exposure to an ultraviolet (UV) light, solidifying them into solid material matching the programmed CAD file. This process repeats itself layer by layer until the entire part has been constructed. PolyJet 3D printing offers one of the most advanced industrial 3D printing solutions available, producing parts with incredible precision and speed. The accuracy to machined parts has made this manufacturing process a favorite for rapid prototyping.

BENEFITS OF POLYJET 3D PRINTING

CONCEPTUAL DESIGN
The speed and efficiency of PolyJet 3D printing is perfect for concept models. It eliminates most of the typical processes like tooling, machining, and mold creation. This allows freedom to experiment with many designs for the same cost and time that one machined part would require.
RAPID PROTOTYPING
The speed of Polyjet 3d printing makes quick-turn prototypes possible. The accuracy produces parts similar to most machining processes which allows for real world comparisons for form, fit and function purposes.
FIXTURES AND TOOLING
3D printing is ideal to produce cost-effective fixtures, jigs, and tooling for assembly, inspection, and production needs.
COMPLEX GEOMETRY
Because 3d printing is an additive process, complex parts with extreme geometries can be produced that could not be produced with typical machining methods.
QUICK TURNAROUND
3D printing requires significantly less time than conventional machining to produce a part. Using your 3d CAD drawing, we can produce your part in as little as 1 day instead of weeks that traditional machining processes would require.
